Different themes offer different options. Sometimes, the pre-designed choices may not exactly fit what you want. However, using the Xpro Theme builder for Elementor, you can design a standout custom header and make your header sticky in minutes instead of hours.

In this guide, I will show you how to create a custom header using a theme builder for Elementor in no time!

So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Create Custom Header Using Elementor Theme Builder

Designing a custom header using Elementor Theme Builder is a straightforward process that allows you to create a unique and visually appealing header for your WordPress website. The Xpro Theme Builder for Elementor enhances this process by providing additional features like Elementor widgets, wooCommerce widgets, front-end editing, display conditions, and user role settings.

For creating a header, you can choose a pre-designed header template for Elementor or create it from scratch.

In my case, I will design with a pre-built header template. However, if you want to design from scratch, you can go through our latest guide on how to build a custom header/footer in WordPress.

Step 1: Install and activate plugins:

To make sure everything goes smoothly, it is important to verify a few requirements before creating a header.

Requirements:

You can easily get these plugins free from the WordPress directory. Take a look at how you can install and activate these plugins:

Done?

Now let’s move on to access the Xpro theme builder.

Note: Many other Elementor theme builders provide backend editing only. But, with Xpro Theme Builder for Elementor, you can create a header directly from the front end. This is an ideal solution for individuals who struggle with the backend dashboard.

Step 2: Access Xpro Theme Builder on the Front End:

  • After installing and activating the plugins, you will first visit your WordPress site by clicking on ‘Visit Site’.
  • On the front end, click on the ‘Xpro icon’ located at the bottom left corner of the screen and access the theme builder dashboard.
  • Navigate to the header section and create a new header template. Name it appropriately and press enter.
  • Now, hover over the newly created header layout and click on the Edit Icon to customize the settings of your header layout.
  • First, you will find a sticky header option to keep your header visible at the top of the page even as users scroll down. If you want your header to remain fixed for better navigation, enable the sticky header. If you prefer a static header, simply disable this option. It depends on your preference; you can choose to enable or disable the sticky header option.
  • Then, apply display conditions to specify where you want the header to appear on your website. Here, you have multiple options. You can display it on the entire site or specific pages such as singular, archive, template pages, blog pages, or any other pages on your website. The decision is totally up to you.

???? What is ‘Display Condition’?  Display conditions in Theme Builder allow you to control where your custom header is displayed on your website. For example, you might want a specific header for your landing page, a different one for blog posts, and another for your contact page. Display conditions let you precisely specify where each template should appear.

  • After that, set user roles based on permissions to allow customized access to each user.

???? What is ‘User Role’? User roles refer to the different roles assigned to users on your WordPress site, such as administrator, editor, author, and more. By setting user roles for your custom header, you can control which types of users see a specific header. This is useful for providing a personalized experience based on user roles or restricting certain content or features to specific user groups.

  • Don’t forget to update your settings whenever you make a change; otherwise, it won’t work. Make sure you change the status of your single layout to ‘Published’ from the Status option.
  • Now, click on ‘Elementor’ to edit your header using the Elementor editor.

Step 3: Customize Header By Using Pre-Built Header Template

Here, I’m going to use the Elementor drag-and-drop interface to add and arrange the desired header elements, such as the logo, navigation menu, search bar, and social media icons.

To access the Xpro template library, you must install and activate the XPro Elementor Addons – free from the WordPress directory.

  • Our pre-designed header templates are available in the block section; here you can pick the one that suits you best.

???? Xpro Elementor Addons provides a collection of pre-designed Elementor templates, pre-built themes for Elementor, and more.

  • Let’s choose this specific template and customize each widget within the header template.
  • To do this, simply hover and click over the widget that you want to customize and start customizing according to your preference. Watch this video for a closer look.

Got it?

Once satisfied with your header design, click the “Update” button to save and then preview your header.
